About the Founder
Hi, I'm Courtney Newman, founder of Safety Made Simple.
I'm a Tassie girl with a vivacious daughter, an incredible husband and an amazing community of friends and family around me. I love building Lego and belting out bangers at karaoke, but that's not what you're here for....
Before launching Safety Made Simple, I spent 16 years in various leadership roles in the logistics and utilities industries. I worked with incredible people across all levels of these organisations, connecting with and driving safety outcomes from operations to the board room.
I love safety work, but not for the reasons you might think. Safety is all about rules, regulations, and red tape, right? Well, in part, yes, there are compliance obligations, but if that is all it feels like to you and your people, you're doing it wrong. Safety is so much more than this; it can be a shared value that binds your people and business. If you harness the power of psychological and psychosocial safety, you can unlock the full potential and productivity of your most important resource, your people.
I approach everything I do with a shared goal of business success and individual well-being. If there is no business, there is no work for your employees, which harms your and their financial well-being. Equally, if your people are just surviving your business, they cannot give you their best performance. It's a delicate balance critical to master in our modern workplaces.
